Woman denies sharing AI-edited pictures with ex-husband before marriage

KARACHI(National Times)- Rejecting her former husband’s allegations that she had shared AI-edited pictures of herself with him before their marriage, Ghulam Rasool Unnar’s ex-wife, Razia Arbab, informed a court that his application seeking registration of an FIR against her had been filed out of “personal grudge”.

Mr Unnar, a former Sindh minister, had moved a sessions court seeking registration of an FIR against his ex-wife under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca).

On Monday, Ms Arbab filed written objections to the application, through her counsel, before District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh.

She stated that her “78-year-old ex-husband had levelled baseless allegations” against her.

She claimed that before the marriage, she had been invited to the home of her ex-husband’s friend, where she was photographed.

She alleged that her ex-husband had tried to harass her by filing a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), allegedly using his “political influence”.

She also informed the court that she had filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband in a local court in Hyderabad on July 30, seeking recovery of Rs10 million and 50 acres of agricultural land mentioned in the nikahnama, as well as Rs100,000 in monthly maintenance.

She informed the court that she had been unable to appear before it due to her iddat period.

After hearing the objections, applicant’s counsel Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich sought time. The court allowed the request and adjourned the hearing till Aug 29.
