French President Macron reaffirms Paris’s support for Lebanon at UN General Assembly

PARIS (National Times) French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday pledged Paris’ unwavering support for Lebanon in his remarks on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.

Speaking to French media during his visit to the US, Macron reiterated that France has always stood by Lebanon and will continue to do so.

His statement came ahead of a crucial UN Security Council meeting this week, where developments in Lebanon are set to be discussed.

Macron underscored the importance of the upcoming Security Council session, highlighting that the situation in Lebanon remains a key concern for France.

The Israeli army launched waves of airstrikes in Lebanon since early Monday against what it called Hezbollah targets amid an escalation in warfare between the two sides.

The Israeli army has carried out waves of deadly airstrikes on Lebanon since early Monday, killing nearly 560 people, including 95 women and 50 children, and injuring 1,835 more, according to Health Minister Firas Abiad.
