Federal govt ready to provide EVMs to ECP

ISLAMABAD (National Times) – Federal government is ready to provide electronic voting machines (EVMs) to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Ministry of Science and Technology said in its reply to letter of the commission.

The ministry has asked the ECP to appoint a focal person for matters including timeframe of local bodies elections and procurement of machines.

While referring to demonstrations by the ministry to ECP on August 17 and November 15, Science Ministry asked that which machine is required by the commission so that order for its production can be placed.

It merits mention that election commission has sought 3900 electronic voting machines for holding local bodies elections in federal capital.
