Naqvi visits National Police Academy, announces new initiatives for trainee ASPs

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Police Academy to inspect ongoing improvement projects. During his visit, he reviewed the renovation work at the academy and provided necessary instructions to the Commandant, National Police Academy, Muhammad Idrees. Minister Naqvi toured key facilities, including the conference hall, dining hall, and various rooms, to ensure the academy’s readiness for upcoming training programs. He also addressed the trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), emphasizing the importance of enhancing their professional capabilities. Speaking to the officers, Naqvi announced that the graduating ASPs would be awarded plots as part of their recognition. He further stated that the current batch of police officers would be trained to meet international standards. As part of this initiative, the minister revealed plans to send ASPs for a one-month training program to Beijing, China.The interior minister also highlighted plans to incorporate modern training modules to meet the evolving demands of law enforcement. He reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the financial challenges of police officers and promised that efforts would be made to improve officers’ salaries. Additionally, Naqvi emphasized that the National Police Foundation would collaborate to provide modern amenities for officers and address issues related to promotions within the force. The Commandant of the National Police Academy briefed the Minister on the ongoing initiatives, and senior officials, including the Deputy Commandant of the Academy and the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, were also present during the visit.
