PESHAWAR (National Times): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed has directed police officers not to provide any kind of facilitation to any march, rally, or procession heading towards Islamabad.

In a directive issued by the KP police chief, officers have been instructed to immediately inform the IGP if they receive any orders to facilitate a march, rally, or procession traveling towards Islamabad.

The directive further states that disciplinary action will be taken against any police officer found violating court orders.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary had also directed government officers and employees not to provide any assistance or facilitation to political marches, rallies, or processions.

The Chief Secretary had instructed government employees not to use official resources, machinery, or funds for political activities and warned that violations could result in departmental action.

The directives come after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced plans for a march towards Islamabad on March 27.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC), in a recent ruling, held that neither a political party nor a provincial government has the right to block highways leading towards Islamabad.

Following the court’s decision, government institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued instructions to officers and personnel to ensure compliance with the court orders.

The PTI has announced its Islamabad march for March 27. In view of the planned protest, administrative and security measures are being taken in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
