Dar holds phone talks with Iranian FM on regional situation

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the prevailing situation in Iran amid ongoing regional tensions. During the call, the two foreign ministers exchanged views on recent developments and agreed to remain in close contact. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining and strengthening Pakistan-Iran diplomatic relations and continuing bilateral engagement through regular communication. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that communication channels with the United States remain open. He said that contacts between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US representative Steve Witkoff are ongoing, with messages exchanged when necessary. Baghaei added that traditional mediation channels, including Switzerland, are also being used to maintain communication between Tehran and Washington. According to him, the United States has raised certain issues and shared general views, while Iran has consistently maintained that it has never withdrawn from negotiations. He further remarked that contradictory statements from the US side reflect a lack of seriousness, reiterating Iran’s position in favor of dialogue despite prevailing challenges.
