ISLAMABAD(National times)- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will not be part of the process for the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the National Assembly. Speaking to journalists outside Parliament House, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said, “We have already declared that we will not take part in the 27th Amendment process. After addressing the assembly, we will stage a walkout.” When asked how PTI would respond to Nawaz Sharif’s arrival in Parliament, Gohar replied, “Whether Nawaz Sharif comes or not, he is now irrelevant to Pakistani politics. He thought he would be welcomed with a red carpet, but no one rolled out one for him in Parliament.” In response to another question, Gohar addressed Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, asking, “Did you not take a petition against Raja Pervez Ashraf to Iftikhar Chaudhry? Didn’t Mian Nawaz Sharif himself act as a lawyer to form the Memogate Commission?” Meanwhile, PTI leader Asad Qaiser stated that the 27th Constitutional Amendment had “buried the Constitution and the law,” adding that PTI would continue its struggle against it. He further said that PTI has convened a Peace Jirga to formulate a national policy, emphasising that Pakistan cannot afford more violence or bombings. “Issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan should be resolved with patience and through diplomatic means,” he added.
