ISLAMABAD (National Times) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of prolonged power outages in various parts of the country and directed authorities to ensure that load shedding does not exceed two hours in any area.

A high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister reviewed the country’s power load management situation. The prime minister expressed concern over the increasing duration of power outages in several cities.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting was briefed on disruptions in RLNG supplies amid the prevailing situation in the region. Officials said tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and transportation challenges had affected RLNG supplies, resulting in lower power generation and forcing authorities to undertake load management to maintain a balance between electricity demand and supply.

Prime Minister Shehbaz directed authorities to take immediate measures to address disruptions in RLNG supplies and ensure the effective utilization of all available resources.

He also ordered the establishment of consumer grievance redressal committees at the distribution company (DISCO) level to address public complaints. The prime minister directed that the committees include public representation and become fully operational within one week.
