TEHRAN (National Times) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, along with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, concluded a day-long visit to Iran as part of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to help end the stalemate in the ongoing US-Iran conflict and promote lasting peace in the region.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, Representative of the Supreme Leader on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

According to the statement, the discussions focused on preventing further escalation, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and expediting an end to the conflict. The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and possible avenues toward a negotiated settlement of outstanding disputes.

The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and its efforts to facilitate dialogue, de-escalation and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Upon arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, along with other senior Iranian civil and military officials.

The visit forms part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic efforts to encourage de-escalation, dialogue and a durable end to instability in the region.
