Man killed in IED blast in Balochistan’s Ormara

GWADAR(National Times)- A man was killed after an improvised explosive device (IED) installed a motorcycle went off outside the residence of a local religious leader in the coastal town of Ormara, police said on Thursday.

​According to Ormara Station House Officer (SHO) Bashir Ahmed, the victim, identified as Raja, was a resident of Makola in Pasni tehsil. Last night, he arrived to stay as a guest at a baithak (guesthouse) belonging to religious leader Syed Muheem Jan.

​The official added that the incident occurred early in the morning when the victim attempted to start his motorcycle to leave the premises. The IED attached to the vehicle detonated, killing him on the spot, he said.

​Following the explosion, police and Pakistan Navy personnel rushed to the site, cordoned off the area, and initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident.

​No group has claimed responsibility for the incident thus far.
