Government Raises Petroleum Prices; Petrol and Diesel See Significant Increase

Islamabad (National Times) The government has announced an increase in petroleum product prices, issuing an official notification through the Petroleum Division.
According to the notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs. 6.51 per liter, setting the new price at Rs. 399.86 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs. 19.39 per liter, bringing it to Rs. 399.58 per liter.
The revised prices will come into effect from midnight tonight.
The notification further states that the petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs. 3.88 per liter. In contrast, a levy of Rs. 28.69 per liter has been imposed on high-speed diesel, which was previously zero.
Sources indicate that the price adjustment was announced a day earlier due to the public holiday on May 1.
