AJK Education Minister Diwan Ali Chughtai joins PPP

MUZAFFARABAD(National times)- Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Minister for Education, Diwan Ali Chughtai, has announced his decision to join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), giving the party a crucial boost ahead of the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq. Chughtai, who had been an allied member of the incumbent AJK government, formally parted ways with the ruling alliance and extended his support to the PPP. His decision marks another key shift in the rapidly evolving political landscape as opposition parties intensify efforts to unseat the AJK Prime Minister. The announcement came after Chughtai held a meeting with PPP leader and head of political affairs, Faryal Talpur. During the meeting, he formally declared his inclusion in the party. Senior PPP figures, including Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, Zia-ul-Qamar, and Sardar Ahmed Sagheer, were also present at the occasion. With Chughtai’s addition, the PPP has secured yet another supporting vote in the no-confidence move, strengthening the opposition’s position as the political battle in AJK enters a decisive phase. PPP leaders have warmly welcomed Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai’s joining the party, saying that his experience and public service will further strengthen the party’s mission. The development is expected to further intensify political maneuvering in Muzaffarabad as parties continue to firm up alliances ahead of the crucial vote.
