Senate pays tribute to late Senator Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD(National times)- The Senate on Wednesday observed an emotional condolence reference for late Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui, as lawmakers from both treasury and opposition benches paid glowing tributes to his services in politics, journalism, and education. Moving the Resolution before the House, Deputy Prime Minister Senator Ishaq Dar said Irfan Siddiqui was prominently known as a famous columnist and an author of many books. His political career intertwined with PML-N where he served as key intellectual and special advisor on National Affairs to Nawaz Sharif. Irfan Siddiqui also served in many other important roles including Parliamentary Party Leader of PMLN and Chairman of Senate standing Committees on Education and Foreign Affairs. He was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 2014 in recognition of distinguished services in field of journalism, literaure and public services. Irfan Siddiqui’s services will long be remembered and the loss will be deeply mourned. The House expressed deepest sympathies with the bereaved family.
