Islamabad: State Minister for Information and broadcasting Farukh Habib Thursday said that govt wants to introduce reforms to all institutions including media.
Talking to meida, Farukh Habib said that there is no mechanism for salaries of media workers and employees. Digital advertisement should be monitored and modern techniques and models should be adopted as a way forward.
The State Minister said that there exist some laws regarding media regulatory body that are monitored by PEMRA. We are establishing an independent commission in which three parties will be involved. These three parties are govt, media and another party.
Talking about the jurisdiction of the commission, Farukh said that it will be listening to the complaints of employees and owners of media houses. The head of this commission will be a retired judge from Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Farukh Habib said that none including PEMRA would have any concerns about commission. The common man will have an easy access to the commission; however, this authority will not suggest salaries of media workers and journalists.
