{"id":96357,"date":"2025-01-03T16:53:15","date_gmt":"2025-01-03T16:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=96357"},"modified":"2025-01-03T16:53:15","modified_gmt":"2025-01-03T16:53:15","slug":"gilgit-baltistan-named-among-must-visit-destinations-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2025\/96357\/","title":{"rendered":"Gilgit Baltistan named among &#8216;must visit destinations in 2025&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Pakistan(National Times)- Baltistan, the most scenic region of Pakistan, has been named in US-based broadcaster\u00a0<em>CNN&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>list of the top 25 destinations worth visiting in 2025. &#8220;The Gilgit Baltistan region in the Karokoram Mountains isn\u2019t the easiest place to get to \u2014 flight schedules can be unreliable, roads can be blocked off seasonally \u2014 but it has more tantalising peaks than a lemon meringue pie,&#8221;\u00a0<em>CNN Travel\u00a0<\/em>said this week. The publication noted that the region is home to five of the 14 &#8220;eight-thousander&#8221; peaks recognised as the world\u2019s highest. That includes K2, the world\u2019s second-tallest mountain but no 1 in terms of difficulty and danger. &#8220;In terms of tourism and infrastructure, hiking in this region makes the Himalayas look like a traipse in Central Park,&#8221; it added. Thousands of local and foreign tourists thronged the sparsely populated northern region each year for expeditions on various peaks, paragliding and other sports activities. While 2024 saw a surge in mountaineering expeditions and trekking in Gilgit Baltistan, nine mountaineers were killed while attempting to summit various peaks, the Alpine Club of Pakistan said.
