{"id":88943,"date":"2024-09-02T10:13:14","date_gmt":"2024-09-02T10:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=88943"},"modified":"2024-09-02T10:13:14","modified_gmt":"2024-09-02T10:13:14","slug":"bad-weather-behind-raisi-helicopter-crash-probe-report-confirms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2024\/88943\/","title":{"rendered":"Bad weather behind Raisi helicopter crash, probe report confirms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TEHRAN (National Times) Iran\u2019s final investigation into the May helicopter crash that killed president Ebrahim Raisi has found it was caused by bad weather, the body investigating the case said on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The helicopter carrying 63-year-old Raisi and his entourage came down on a fog-shrouded mountainside in northern Iran, killing the president and seven others, and triggering snap elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main cause of the helicopter crash was the \u201ccomplex climatic and atmospheric conditions of the region in the spring\u201d, the special board investigating the dimensions and causes of the helicopter accident said, according to state broadcaster IRIB.<br>The report added that \u201cthe sudden emergence of a thick mass of dense and rising fog\u201d caused the helicopter\u2019s collision into the mountain. Iran\u2019s army in May similarly said it had found no evidence of criminal activity in the crash that also killed Raisi\u2019s foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August, Fars news agency cited the main causes of the May 19 crash as bad weather conditions and the helicopter\u2019s inability to ascend with two extra passengers against security protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Iranian armed forces were quick to reject the finding saying, \u201cwhat is mentioned on Fars news about the presence of two people in the helicopter against the security protocols\u2026 is completely false\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TEHRAN (National Times) Iran\u2019s final investigation into the May helicopter crash that killed president Ebrahim Raisi has found it was caused by bad weather, the body investigating the case said on Sunday.
