{"id":86641,"date":"2024-07-28T19:50:51","date_gmt":"2024-07-28T19:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=86641"},"modified":"2024-07-28T19:50:51","modified_gmt":"2024-07-28T19:50:51","slug":"kp-requests-phc-cj-to-form-judicial-commission-for-may-9-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2024\/86641\/","title":{"rendered":"KP requests PHC CJ to form judicial commission for May 9 probe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PESHAWAR (National Times) The Khyber Pakhunkhwa government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Sunday wrote a letter Peshawar High Court&#8217;s (PHC) Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim for the constitution of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KP Law Minister Aftab Alam Afridi, while speaking to Geo News, said: &#8220;The letter requesting the establishment of a judicial commission was sent to the chief justice by the administration department.&#8221;<br>Afridi said that the chief justice will announce the names for the commission, adding that the judicial commission will be headed by a PHC judge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A day earlier, the KP cabinet approved the establishment of a a judicial commission to probe the May 9 events during the meeting presided by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PTI had been demanding to hold a judicial inquiry into the May 9 protests which broke out in the country last year over party founder Imran Khan&#8217;s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the protests, alleged PTI supporters damaged public and private properties and also attacked military installations in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May this year, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reiterated his party&#8217;s demand to hold a judicial inquiry into the violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KP CM Gandapur had also demanded to form a judicial commission to probe the violence on that day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR (National Times) The Khyber Pakhunkhwa government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Sunday wrote a letter Peshawar High Court&#8217;s (PHC) Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim for the constitution of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incident.
