{"id":84029,"date":"2024-06-21T12:03:09","date_gmt":"2024-06-21T12:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=84029"},"modified":"2024-06-21T12:03:09","modified_gmt":"2024-06-21T12:03:09","slug":"powers-given-to-pharmaceutical-companies-to-fix-prices-of-medicines-challenged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2024\/84029\/","title":{"rendered":"Powers given to pharmaceutical companies to fix prices of medicines challenged"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LAHORE (National Times) Pharmaceutical companies powers for fixing the price of medicines has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).<br>A citizen Muhammad Aslam filed petition in the court through Nadim Sarwar advocate Friday making federal government, Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and others respondents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petition said cabinet has taken away the powers of fixing prices of medicines from DRAP and delegated these powers to pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petition further said the federal government has seconded illegally the decision of care taker government. The court had ordered federal cabinet to review the matter afresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been said further in the petition that the endorsement of decision of care taker government by federal government despite court&#8217;s orders is unconstitutional.
