{"id":82784,"date":"2024-05-31T03:33:52","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T03:33:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=82784"},"modified":"2024-05-31T03:33:52","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T03:33:52","slug":"ihc-fixes-cipher-case-for-hearing-on-june-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2024\/82784\/","title":{"rendered":"IHC fixes cipher case for hearing on June 3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled the hearing of the cipher case for Monday, June 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This case involves appeals against the punishment of the PTI founder and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, which were previously adjourned due to the Youm-e-Takbeer holiday on May 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On May 23, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sought the IHC\u2019s permission to present the statement of US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu, given before a congressional committee in Washington, as evidence in the cipher case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FIA submitted a miscellaneous application to the IHC bench, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, requesting to introduce this additional evidence against Khan and Qureshi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the hearing, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq expressed concern about the FIA\u2019s request to present additional evidence at such a late stage in the proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Miangul Hassan questioned whether the prosecutor intended to call Lu as a witness or if this was a tactic to delay the case.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled the hearing of the cipher case for Monday, June 3.
