{"id":80490,"date":"2024-04-22T09:49:42","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=80490"},"modified":"2024-04-22T09:49:42","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T09:49:42","slug":"ihc-declares-keeping-bushra-bibi-in-solitary-confinement-a-form-of-torture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2024\/80490\/","title":{"rendered":"IHC declares keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement a form of torture"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) The Islamabad High Court on Monday remarked that keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement tantamount to torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb gave the remarks while hearing the plea of the PTI founder\u2019s wife for shifting her from Banigala to Adiala Jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advocates Usman Riaz Gul and Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry appeared before the court on behalf of Bushra Bibi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Aurangzeb remarked that how the Chief Commissioner can declare himself as the provincial government. Keeping one in solitary confinement is a form of torture, he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge wondered that six miscellaneous applications have been moved against single writ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state counsel submitted that it was being assessed that no illegal step had been taken while establishing sub-jail. Justice Aurangzeb censured him that you have no grounds to contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The counsel sought adjournment to get the latest information regarding current status of the petitioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The judge asked the counsels for Bushra Bibi that if they wanted to shift her from Banigala to Adiala Jail and the lawyer replied in the affirmative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Aurangzeb asked the lawyers to submit written arguments on the next hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, the hearing was adjourned for one week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) The Islamabad High Court on Monday remarked that keeping Bushra Bibi in solitary confinement tantamount to torture.
