LONDON(National Times) British High Commission officials have denied media reports claiming that the UK government had added Pakistan to the list of dangerous countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a recent update, the Foreign and Common\u00adwea\u00adlth Development Office (FCDO) has added eight additional destinations, including Israel and Gaza, to the list of places deemed \u2018too dangerous\u2019 for UK citizens to visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indian media reports, as well as some local websites, had wrongly reported that Pakistan was \u201coff limits\u201d for travel according to a UK government advisory. But officials told Dawn there was no change in Pakistan\u2019s travel advisory status which was last updated on January 24, as per the UK government\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several reports mentioned a \u2018black list\u2019 and \u2018red list\u2019, misstating that Pakistan was included in the latter, but officials confirmed to Dawn that there were no black or red lists and that each country has its own travel advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UK\u2019s FCDO has similar travel advisories for both India and Pakistan. \u201cFCDO advises against all travel to within 10 miles of the border between Pakis\u00adtan and Afghanistan\u201d and \u201cthe Line of Control,\u201d says the advisory for Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The warning for India is identical to Pakistan, and UK citizens are warned against travelling to Manipur and parts of India-held Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The advisory for Pakis\u00adtan also warns against tra\u00adv\u00ade\u00adlling to KP and Baloch\u00adistan areas, including Bajaur, Bannu, Buner, Charsadda, D.I. Khan, Khyber, Kohat, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Orakzai, Peshawar, Swat, Tank, North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Gwadar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The eight countries declared \u2018too dangerous\u2019 to travel for UK citizens are Ukraine, Iran, Sudan, Leb\u00ada\u00adnon, Israel, Belarus, and the Palestinian territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They have joined Afgha\u00adn\u00adis\u00adtan, Syria and Yemen, already designated as high-risk destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The expansion of the \u2018too dangerous\u2019 list underscores the ongoing volatility and threats present in these regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With conflicts and tensions escalating in several areas, the FCDO has urged British nationals to avoid non-essential travel to these destinations for their own safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
