{"id":51071,"date":"2022-12-06T13:21:39","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T13:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=51071"},"modified":"2022-12-06T15:10:29","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:10:29","slug":"fir-on-arshad-sharifs-assassination-lodged-on-scs-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2022\/51071\/","title":{"rendered":"FIR on Arshad Sharif&#8217;s assassination lodged on SC&#8217;s orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) \u2013 Hours after the Supreme Court of Pakistan took suo-moto notice of assassination of senior journalist Arshad Sharif, police have lodged the First Information Report (FIR) of the cold-blooded murder.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umer Ata Bandial had ordered to lodge an FIR after terming Sharif\u2019s medical report as unsatisfactory. The FIR has been lodged with Ramna police station in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz had welcomed Supreme Court of Pakistan\u2019s suo motu notice of journalist Arshad Sharif\u2019s killing in Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to Twitter, PM Shehbaz said he had already written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial for setting up a judicial commission to probe the murder.<\/p>\n<p>The premier also assured Centre\u2019s full cooperation to the apex court.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the court directed the federal government to register FIR of journalist Arshad Sharif\u2019s killing.<\/p>\n<p>A larger bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, conducted hearing on the suo moto.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the chief justice asked that why report of the fact finding committee has not been provided to the court as yet.<\/p>\n<p>On this, the additional attorney general informed the court that Interior Minister was in Faisalabad when the report was received. \u201cThe report will be handed over to the SC once Sanaullah peruses it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Does the interior minister have to make changes to the report?\u201d the CJP asked, adding that the court could also summon Rana Sanaullah.<\/p>\n<p>A journalist was killed. It should be revealed who was behind the killing,\u201d the CJP remarked.<\/p>\n<p>The additional attorney general responded by saying the report would be submitted by tomorrow.
