{"id":50818,"date":"2022-12-04T13:55:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-04T13:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=50818"},"modified":"2022-12-04T13:55:02","modified_gmt":"2022-12-04T13:55:02","slug":"sc-issues-short-judgement-in-vawda-disqualification-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2022\/50818\/","title":{"rendered":"SC issues short judgement in Vawda disqualification case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) \u2013 The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued on Sunday short written verdict in the disqualification case of former PTI leader and former federal minister Faisal Vawda.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial issued a four-page decision which stated: \u201cFaisal Vawda stated that he received the certificate of quitting US nationality on June 25, 2018. He further admitted his misleading statement. He was not qualified to become the member parliamentarian in 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The court order further stated: \u201cThe Article 63 of the Constitution of Pakistan applies after Vawda admitted his guilt. He will remain disqualified till the tenure of the incumbent parliament\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The court ordered the ousted PTI leader to submit his resignation to the Senate Chairman as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>The top court ruled that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was not authorized to disqualify any parliamentarian before the elections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Islamabad High Court\u2019s decision couldn\u2019t be maintained in the light of the law of the land so the decision of the ECP and IHC regarding lifetime disqualification is declared null and void.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times) \u2013 The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued on Sunday short written verdict in the disqualification case of former PTI leader and former federal minister Faisal Vawda.
