ISLAMABAD (National Times) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Monday slammed the coalition government, saying he can negotiate with political people, not criminals, and that his party will not go to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
Addressing the media, the PTI Chairman said: “When you are negotiating, then those negotiations that are underway should not come to the light.” He added that some courts make great decisions and some don\u2019t. The former prime minister said that the IHC has a tradition of always delivering an excellent verdict. In a sarcastic manner, the head of the PTI stated that only one FIR remained against him, which was filed for serving bread with tea.<\/p>\n
Vowing that he would distribute flood relief funds to four provinces, while the former premier mocked PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, saying the law is different for the powerful and the underprivileged.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday accepted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief\u2019s apology in contempt of court case.<\/p>\n
A larger bench, headed by IHC Cheif Justice Athar Minallah and comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar heard the case and discharged the contempt notice against Imran Khan.<\/p>\n
At the outset of today\u2019s hearing, CJ Minallah said that the bench has seen the affidavit submitted by Imran Khan.<\/p>\n
“Imran Khan demonstrated honesty and went to apologize to the judge,” he remarked, adding that discharging the contempt notice is the bench\u2019s unanimous decision.<\/p>\n
Justice Minallah also stated that the court is also “satisfied” with Imran Khan\u2019s conduct.<\/p>\n
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan had filed an affidavit in a contempt of court case in which he was accused of threatening a judge.<\/p>\n
Imran Khan, in the latest response, although mentioned that he “might have crossed a red line while making a public speech”, fell short of apologizing for his remarks.<\/p>\n
Khan assured the IHC that he would “never do anything in future” that would hurt the dignity of any court and the judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.<\/p>\n
The PTI chairman added that he is willing to take any further steps that the IHC deems necessary and that he never intended to interfere with the process of the court or impugn the dignity or independence of the judiciary.<\/p>\n
The former chief executive said that he stands by his September 22 statement and “once again [assures] this court that he will always abide by the afore-referred statement, in letter and spirit”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
