{"id":28061,"date":"2022-03-24T14:35:23","date_gmt":"2022-03-24T14:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=28061"},"modified":"2022-03-24T14:35:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-24T14:35:23","slug":"apple-to-buy-first-large-batch-of-carbon-free-aluminum-for-iphone-se","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2022\/28061\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple to buy first large batch of carbon-free aluminum for iPhone SE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Web Desk (National Times)- Apple said on Thursday it will buy its first industrial-size batch of carbon-free aluminium to use in its low-cost iPhone SE, as it steps up efforts to reduce the carbon footprint from the metal it uses heavily in product casings.<\/p>\n<p>Details about the size or cost of the purchase were not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>The iPhone maker has been taking steps to reduce its use of the carbon-intensive metal that emits direct greenhouse gases from the smelting process and has spiked consumer, activist and investor dissent due to its environmental impact.<\/p>\n<p>Apple first bought a smaller batch of the lab-made metal in 2019 from Elysis, a Montreal-based joint venture between two of the world&#8217;s biggest aluminium suppliers \u2014 Alcoa Corp and Rio Tinto.
