{"id":17712,"date":"2021-11-30T11:20:02","date_gmt":"2021-11-30T11:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=17712"},"modified":"2021-11-30T21:32:11","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T21:32:11","slug":"sc-rejects-kp-govts-plea-seeking-change-in-schedule-of-local-bodies-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2021\/17712\/","title":{"rendered":"SC rejects KP govt&#8217;s plea seeking change in schedule of local bodies elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD (National Times): Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has rejected a petition filed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government seeking change in schedule of local bodies elections.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing conducted by a three-member bench and headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the court told that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken steps to implement Peshawar High Court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>It has already taken two years to release the schedule of local bodies elections.<\/p>\n<p>The apex court remarked that we need to strengthen political parties as they cannot be excluded from political activities, Justice Umar said.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Mansoor Ali said that not a single party has approached the court in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>The advocate general told that the verdict issued by the high court has no place in law.
