{"id":135987,"date":"2026-11-06T08:39:25","date_gmt":"2026-11-06T03:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=135987"},"modified":"2026-11-06T08:39:25","modified_gmt":"2026-11-06T03:39:25","slug":"mechanism-for-visiting-imran-in-jail-already-exists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/135987\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Mechanism for visiting Imran in jail already exists\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD(National Times)-The Isla\u00admabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday observed that a mechanism for jail visits had already been established as it heard a petition by members of the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) seeking permission to meet incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Justice Umair Majeed Malik made the observation while hearing the petition, noting that any future requests for jail visits would be dealt with under the existing mechanism and the necessary orders issued accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hearing also covered objections raised by the Registrar\u2019s Office. Advocate Faisal Chaudhry appeared before the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the proceedings, Justice Malik poin\u00adted out that the Registrar\u2019s Office had raised an objection, noting that a mechanism for jail visits had already been established. The judge also questioned the legal basis for the petitioners\u2019 claim to a right to such a meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advocate Faisal Chau\u00addhry assured the court that the petitioners would stri\u00adctly adhere to the standard operating procedures or mechanism established by the court and that no media statements would be made following the jail visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Justice Malik reiterat\u00aded that the existing order pro\u00ad\u00advided for future requ\u00adests of this nature to be heard and orders issued accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The petitioners inclu\u00added former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, ex-Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Mahmood Baqi Molvi and Barrister Muhammad Ali Khan Saif.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD(National Times)-The Isla\u00admabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday observed that a mechanism for jail visits had already been established as it heard a petition by members of the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) seeking permission to meet incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.
