{"id":134717,"date":"2026-10-12T21:56:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-12T16:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=134717"},"modified":"2026-10-12T21:56:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-12T16:56:02","slug":"russian-interior-minister-arrives-in-pakistan-on-four-day-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/134717\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian interior minister arrives in Pakistan on four-day visit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokolstev arrived in Pakistan on Monday and would hold \u201cimportant meetings\u201d with the leadership here, according to a statement by the interior ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement said Kolokolstev was undertaking the four-day visit at the invitation of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, marking the first instance of a Russian interior minister visiting Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kolokolstev was received by Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry upon his arrival in Islamabad, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During his stay in Pakistan, the Russian interior minister would participate in \u201cimportant discussions\u201d on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing mutual cooperation, and would also hold key meetings with the country\u2019s leadership, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier, in January, Russian President Vladimir Putin had said Moscow\u2019s relations with Pakistan were \u201cgenuinely mutually beneficial\u201d and that it maintained close ties with Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe maintain close cooperation with Pakistan, a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the largest regional organisation in terms of economic, technological, and human potential. Russia-Pakistan relations are genuinely mutually beneficial,\u201d the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan quoted President Putin as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last July, Russia\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk called Pakistan and Russia \u201cnatural allies\u201d, stressing that Putin viewed Islamabad as an important strategic partner in the areas of economy and energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent years, Pakistan and Russia have significantly strengthened their economic ties, driven by mutual necessity.
