Karachi(National Times)- Karachiites would be able to access passport, CNIC and other services under one roof at the \u201cPakistan\u2019s largest public facilitation centre\u201d planned for the city, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He made this announcement during a visit to the Ministry of Interior\u2019s office located on Karachi\u2019s I.I. Chundrigar Road, according to a statement issued by the ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement quoted Naqvi as saying that the counters of all departments and organisations under his ministry would be set up centre, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe citizens will be able to access passport, CNIC, arms licence, various NOCs and other services under one roof,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister directed that the master plan for the facilitation centre must be prepared and submitted within 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200e\u201cThe master plan will be prepared while taking into account all necessary requirements,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cThe facilitation centre will provide citizens with a range of services under one roof.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200eThe statement said that Naqvi also directed the authorities to ensure all necessary measures for the establishment of the facilitation centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
21 new rescue, firefighting vehicles
Naqvi also with the Karachi Port, where \u200e\u200e21 new vehicles for Islamabad Rescue 1122 and the fire brigade had arrived after 17 years, the interior ministry said in a separate statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, the statement said, Naqvi inspected the new vehicles that arrived from China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200e\u201cThe new rescue vehicles will reach Islamabad from Karachi within five days,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200eSpeaking on the occasion, Naqvi said the arrival of the new vehicles for Islamabad rescue and fire brigade services was a welcome development, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe addition of new vehicles to Islamabad rescue was the biggest expansion since 2009,\u201d he was quoted as saying. \u201cWe are grateful to the government of China for expediting the supply of these new vehicles,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u200eThe ministry\u2019s statement said that the modern rescue vehicles would remain available round-the-clock at six stations across Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new rescue vehicles were capable of conducting operations at heights of up to 256 feet, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
