ISLAMABAD (National Times)\u00a0The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the Prime Minister’s fuel relief package. Motorcycle and rickshaw users will receive fuel relief of Rs500 per week, while owners of vehicles up to 800cc will receive Rs1,000 in fuel relief every 10 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the official statement, the ECC approved the Prime Minister’s fuel relief package. A technical supplementary grant of Rs75 billion was approved for the fuel relief scheme. The scheme will be limited to non-commercial users, while each user or owner will be eligible for fuel relief for only one vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECC decided to introduce a Fuel Pass system to ensure transparent distribution of the relief. The Ministry of IT will develop and manage the digital Fuel Pass system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Economic Coordination Committee also approved a framework for restructuring the ownership and administrative control of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC). The recommendations of the committee headed by the minister regarding the restructuring and privatization of PNSC were also approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECC approved the draft upgrade agreement for the modernization of existing oil refineries. A period of five years has been set for completion of the refinery upgrade projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECC deferred the matter concerning the commercial import of used vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECC also approved the export of an additional 200,000 metric tons of sugar. Safeguard conditions aimed at maintaining price stability in the domestic market have been imposed for the sugar exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ECC approved Rs3 billion for the purchase of 15 bulletproof vehicles for the SCO summit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
