KARACHI(National Times)- The meeting of the special committee on the Sindh Local Government Amendment Act 2026 ended inconclusively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to sources, a deadlock remained between the government and opposition parties on various provisions of the bill during the two-and-a-half-hour meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government members claimed that some of the opposition’s recommendations had been included in the bill, however, opposition members rejected the government’s claim, saying that none of their proposals had been accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similarly, the opposition said that their suggestions were not sought during the preparation of the bill, while suggestions were sought after the government’s amendment bill was presented in the assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources said that the Sindh Local Government Amendment Act 2026 is likely to be presented in the House for approval on Monday or Tuesday, while the MQM has warned that strong protests will be launched if their proposals are not included in the bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
