ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Fearing that he will be \u2018killed th\u00ad\u00adr\u00adough isolation\u2019, PTI foun\u00adder Imran Khan has cal\u00adled on Khyber Pakhtun\u00adk\u00adhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to expedite the movement for his release, Dr Uzma Khan said on Friday after a brief meeting with her brother during his checkup at Pims in the early hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing a press conference alongside her sisters and PTI leaders, Dr Uzma said that her bro\u00adther had complained that he was not allowed any human interaction, which he described as a form of \u2018mental torture\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said that her bro\u00adth\u00ad\u00ader was suffering from an\u00ad\u00adxiety, and feared the same end as former Egyptian ruler Mohamed Morsi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Imran was not aware of anything, especially current developments, as he does not have access to ne\u00ad\u00ad\u00adwspapers or television for the past 10 months, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to a query about his he\u00ad\u00adalth, she said he was \u201cfit\u201d, with no\u00ad\u00adrmal blood pressure and imp\u00adroved vision. \u201cJust a small haemorrhage is left,\u201d she added. However, she quo\u00adted her brother as saying that a doctor who examined him on Aug 10 said that he had severe anxiety due to \u201cmental torture in solitary confinement\u201d, and that anxiety caused high blood pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Uzma added that Imran said when he would complain about his health to prison doctors, \u201cno one would listen or care\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Narrating what he had told her, Dr Uzma said Imran Khan had asked her to request KP CM Afridi to expedite the movement for his release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Consequently, the PTI-led opposition alliance announced its plans to hold a full-fledged protest on Sept 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Separately, PTI Cent\u00adral Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also assailed the government for defying SC ord\u00aders, say\u00ad\u00ad\u00ading: \u201cDeclaring the PTI founder medically fit after a few hours of what appe\u00adars to have been a merely symbolic exercise and then shifting him back to Adiala jail before dawn raises serious questions\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, in a late-night statement, the administr\u00adation of the Pakistan Ins\u00adtitute of Medical Sciences (Pims) said that two specialists from Shifa Inter\u00adnational Hospital participated in Mr Khan\u2019s eye assessment, while other exa\u00adminations were carri\u00ad\u00aded out by the concerned Pims specialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
