ISLAMABAD(National Times)- The Senate session was adjourned on Friday without transacting any business minutes after the chair disallowed a PTI lawmaker from raising the issue of non-compliance with Supreme Court orders on shifting former prime minister Imran Khan from Adiala jail to a private hospital in the federal capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senator Manzoor Kakar was in the chair when Senator Mishal Khan Yousafzai sought to speak during the Question Hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite clear court directions, Imran Khan was not taken to Shifa International Hospital, Senator Yousafzai said, while regretting that he was taken to PIMS instead and rushed back to prison within a short span of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf the government cannot implement the Supreme Court\u2019s decision, we will not let the House run,\u201d she declared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Calling attention notice on Pak-Iran gas pipeline among agenda items not taken up<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou should speak on Question Hour for now,\u201d the chair told her, and did not allow further discussion on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the exchange, Senator Mishal pointed out the lack of quorum in the House, and the chair ordered the bells to be rung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, quorum could not be completed despite the calls, with the result that the proceedings had to be adjourned till Monday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the items listed on the agenda that could not be taken up were two calling attention notices including the one related to Pakistan-Iran Gas pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood was supposed to draw the attention of the Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) to the non-completion of the Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline within Pakistan, which he said was resulting in a consistent gas shortage in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also, Senator Zeeshan Khanzada was expected to raise the issue of shortage of essential drugs due to delays in price approval\/notification by the government, leading to the supply of spurious medicines in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The House was also scheduled to take up the motion of thanks, moved by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on May 8, expressing \u201cdeep gratitude to the President of Pakistan for his address to both Houses assembled together on 2nd March, 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
