{"id":131307,"date":"2026-08-15T17:21:29","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T12:21:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=131307"},"modified":"2026-08-15T17:21:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T12:21:29","slug":"indias-uttarakhand-tunnel-accident-claims-7-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/131307\/","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s Uttarakhand tunnel accident claims 7 lives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NEW DELHI(National Times)-  Seven workers were killed and 13 injured on Thursday night following a landslide that sent water and debris gushing into a tunnel under construction in northern India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident occurred in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, where workers were constructing a tunnel for a state-run hydropower project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three workers are still missing, while 19 were rescued from the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation site, the state\u2019s disaster management authority said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Videos shared by authorities showed rescue workers equipped with head-mounted torches using makeshift rafts to reach the flooded section of the tunnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uttarakhand has been battered by heavy monsoon rains in recent days.
