KARACHI(National Times)- Former Sindh minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar has allegedly fallen victim to artificial intelligence (AI) technology, claiming that he discovered after his marriage that pictures of his ex-wife that she had shared with him had been edited and altered using AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unnar approa\u00adched a sessions court seeking registration of an FIR against his ex-wife, Razia Arbab, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He informed the court that he had come into contact with Ms Arbab through social media platforms. He said that while they were communicating, she proposed marriage to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the applicant, they later got married through a video call in the presence of witnesses, against a dower of Rs100,000, which had already been paid to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former minister alleged that during the ceremony, his ex-wife did not reveal her face and kept it covered with a niqab. However, after the marriage, when Mr Unnar met her in person, he \u201cgot shocked and surprised\u201d to discover that she had allegedly \u201ccheated and deceived\u201d him by \u201cconcealing her real face\u201d and sending filtered and AI-edited pictures before the marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He submitted that he subsequently separated from his wife and later divorced her, but she continued posting \u201cfake news\u201d about his death and fabricated images on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further alleged that she was demanding money from him and sending abusive and threatening messages on WhatsApp, warning him that she would share his personal videos or kill him if he did not pay her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asking the court to order registration of an FIR against her, he stated that by posting fake news and spreading false information, levelling false, shameful and baseless allegations on social media, his ex-wife has committed offences under Peca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He requested the court to direct the concerned SHO to record his statement and register an FIR against his ex-wife. After hearing his submissions, Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh issued notices to the SSP Complaint Cell, the SHO of the Defence police station and the proposed accused, directing them to submit their responses before the court on Aug 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
