Web desk(National Times)- The Directorate of College Education, Karachi region on Thursday issued a circular telling employees to comply with the dress code, saying that casual or inappropriate attire was \u201cinconsistent with professional standards\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a circular issued by the Directorate of College Education on Thursday, available with Dawn<\/em>, it was observed \u201cwith serious concern\u201d that some employees, particularly male staff, were reporting for duty in casual or \u201cinappropriate attire\u201d. This included T-shirts, jeans, \u201ctight-fitting clothing\u201d, slippers and \u201cfancy sunglasses\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The notification said, \u201cSuch attire is inconsistent with the professional standards expected in government educational institutions and shall not be permitted during official working hours\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Under the prescribed dress code, male teaching staff, particularly those serving in government girls\u2019 colleges, were told to wear \u201cdecent and formal attire\u201d, preferably a full-sleeved shirt with formal trousers or traditional shalwar kameez<\/em>. Teachers were also advised to wear an academic gown with proper formal shoes while delivering lectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Female teaching staff were told to wear \u201cdecent, modest and professional attire\u201d appropriate to an educational institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The notification said that \u201ctheir dress should reflect the dignity of the teaching profession and help maintain a respectful academic environment\u201d.
