{"id":129445,"date":"2026-07-16T11:54:32","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:54:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=129445"},"modified":"2026-07-16T11:54:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T06:54:33","slug":"psx-continues-recovery-as-kse-100-index-gains-2600-points-in-early-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/129445\/","title":{"rendered":"PSX continues recovery as KSE-100 index gains 2,600 points in early trade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KARACHI(National Times)-  The Pakistan Stock Exchange\u2019s (PSX) benchmark index continued to recover on Thursday as it surged by around 2,600 points during early trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The KSE-100 index gained 2,604.49 points (1.49 per cent) by 11:04am to stand at 177,890.27 points from the previous close of 175,285.78.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Awais Ashraf, director of research at AKD Securities, noted that the market continued Wednesday\u2019s rebound after US President Donald Trump\u2019s recent&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aa.com.tr\/en\/world\/trump-says-iran-wants-to-settle-so-badly\/3999570\">remarks<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump said on Wednesday that Tehran was eager to reach a deal with Washington. \u201cThey want to settle so badly. They don\u2019t like what we\u2019re doing, and they do want to settle. We\u2019ll find out whether or not we settle with them, or we just finish it off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Ashraf, the US president\u2019s remarks indicated that he wanted \u201cto bring Iran back to the negotiation table to end the conflict\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStability in oil prices for the past two days is also adding to investor confidence,\u201d he observed as oil prices turned lower on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After initially rising for a fourth straight session, Brent crude futures slipped 24 cents, or 0.28pc, to $84.95 a barrel as of 9:35am PKT, while US West Texas Intermediate futures fell 15 cents, or 0.19pc, to $79.45 a barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sustained positive momentum at the stock market comes after KSE-100 witnessed val\u00adue-hunting by equity investors on Wednesday, partially&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015739\/equities-recover-1767-points-amid-caution\">recovering losses<\/a>&nbsp;from Tuesday\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015518\/psx-plunges-6408-points-on-hormuz-panic\">bloodbath<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Tuesday, the index had&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015331\">lost 6,408.23 points<\/a>&nbsp;due to panic-driven selling amid&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015335\/us-launches-third-night-of-strikes-on-iran-irgc-targets-american-assets-in-bahrain-and-jordan\">renewed fighting<\/a>&nbsp;between the US and Iran, which&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015348\/oil-prices-hit-one-month-high-as-us-iran-step-up-attacks-in-strait-of-hormuz\">heightened concerns<\/a>&nbsp;about energy flows through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2015288\">Strait of Hormuz<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARACHI(National Times)- The Pakistan Stock Exchange\u2019s (PSX) benchmark index continued to recover on Thursday as it surged by around 2,600 points during early trade.
