{"id":129086,"date":"2026-07-09T18:21:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T13:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=129086"},"modified":"2026-07-09T18:21:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T13:21:49","slug":"mutual-decision-of-civil-military-leadership-to-end-terrorism-pm-shehbaz-says-after-balochistan-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/129086\/","title":{"rendered":"Mutual decision of civil, military leadership to end terrorism, PM Shehbaz says after Balochistan attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Web desk(National Times)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said the country\u2019s civil and military leadership had taken a \u201cmutual and singular decision\u201d to end terrorism after multiple major\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2013868\/38-security-personnel-martyred-54-terrorists-neutralised-in-recent-balochistan-attacks-dg-ispr\">terrorist incidents<\/a>\u00a0in Balochistan in recent days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made the remarks at a meeting in Quetta of the Provincial Apex Committee on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1872106\/nap-at-10-assessing-pakistans-response-post-aps\">National Action Plan<\/a>, with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chairing the meeting, PM Shehbaz declared, \u201cOne thing is decided: it is a mutual and singular decision of the civil and military leadership that we must end terrorism collectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said the civil and military leaders had gathered in Balochistan after \u201cvery serious incidents took place in the past four days\u201d, resulting in the martyrdom of policemen, soldiers and civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Noting that 54 terrorists were killed while responding to those attacks and in subsequent operations, he affirmed, \u201cThis war [against terrorism] will continue until the last&nbsp;<em>fasaadi<\/em>&nbsp;(vicious) terrorist in Pakistan is eliminated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reiterating Pakistan\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1907471\">accusations<\/a>&nbsp;against India for backing terrorism, the prime minister said there was \u201cno doubt that our eastern neighbour is fully involved in this&nbsp;<em>fitna<\/em>&nbsp;(evil) in all aspects\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey are providing money to these terrorists and their groups, as well as providing weapons. These terrorists in Afghanistan collectively conduct attacks in Balochistan and KP,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLikewise, there are also some&nbsp;<em>khariji<\/em>&nbsp;hands, about which I do not want to say anything further here,\u201d the prime minister said, echoing the military spokesman\u2019s recent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2013868\/38-security-personnel-martyred-54-terrorists-neutralised-in-recent-balochistan-attacks-dg-ispr#:~:text=%E2%80%98Forces%20with%20India%20using%20illegitimate%20Afghan%20Taliban%20regime%E2%80%99\">comments<\/a>&nbsp;that India and \u201cforces with India\u201d had a hand behind the attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PM Shehbaz said the&nbsp;<em>Fitna Al Khawarij<\/em>&nbsp;(FAK) had the \u201cheinous objectives\u201d of damaging the respect garnered by Pakistan globally, \u201cwhether they are the diplomatic successes or the four-day war of May last year\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government uses the term \u201c<em>Fitna al Khawarij<\/em>\u201d (FAK) to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister said that the \u201cenemy was unable to digest the respect\u201d and therefore, it was finding ways to \u201ccreate difficulties\u201d for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to announce this decision today \u2014 on behalf of myself, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Balochistan government \u2014 that we will not step back from eliminating this fitna day and night and will eliminate it by utilising all resources, and Pakistan will become a cradle of progress and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The premier noted, \u201cThe brave soldiers and officers of the armed forces rendered sacrifices and sacrificed their blood, along with law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He affirmed that the \u201centire nation stands firmly\u201d with the armed forces and LEAs, expressing hope that the sacrifices will ultimately result in the eradication of terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister concluded his remarks by praying for the elevated ranks of the martyred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and heads of LEAs also attended the meeting, the government\u2019s official X account said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prime minister arrived in Quetta earlier in the day for a brief visit to chair the meeting regarding the law and order situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mandokhail, CM Bugti and senior civil and military officials welcomed PM Shehbaz upon his arrival, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and PM\u2019s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah accompanied the premier on the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PM Shehbaz\u2019s visit came a day after the military&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2014017\">revealed<\/a>&nbsp;that at least 42 people \u2014 the majority of whom were security and law enforcement personnel \u2014 have lost their lives in terrorist attacks and subsequent operations in Balochistan since July 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PM Shehbaz\u2019s visit came a day after the military&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2014017\">revealed<\/a>&nbsp;that four civilians, 27 policemen and 11 security personnel lost their lives in terrorist attacks and subsequent operations in Balochistan since July 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, 54 terrorists were killed during the same period in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing a press briefing in Rawalpindi, the military\u2019s spokesperson said that there were \u201cthree major terrorist incidents\u201d in recent days \u2014 an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2013515\"><u>armed attack<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;on the outskirts of Quetta on July 5, an assault on a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2013564\"><u>police post<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in Ziarat on July 6, and an ambush of an army convoy in Bela on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned terrorists and their facilitators to expect no \u201crationality and proportionality\u201d as security forces continue to hunt down the perpetrators of the attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also pointed the finger squarely at India and Afghanistan for being behind the attacks, saying that it was the handiwork of India and \u201cthose forces with India who cannot tolerate Pakistan\u2019s respect, prosperity and
