{"id":129010,"date":"2026-07-08T17:16:29","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T12:16:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=129010"},"modified":"2026-07-08T17:16:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T12:16:30","slug":"karachi-braces-for-water-shortage-after-power-failure-at-dhabeji-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/129010\/","title":{"rendered":"Karachi braces for water shortage after power failure at Dhabeji station"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Web desk(National Times)-  According to a KWSC spokesperson, the electricity outage affected the K-2 Pump House, where the manifold chamber and main valves developed a fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWork is being carried out at full pace to remove accumulated water from the affected valves, after which repair work will begin immediately,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the water utility had directed technical teams to undertake emergency repairs. \u201cEngineers and maintenance staff are present at the site to identify and fix the fault as quickly as possible\u201d, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spokesperson said that as a result of the malfunction, three major pumps at the K-2 Pumping Station had been temporarily shut down. \u201cThe disruption is expected to reduce Karachi\u2019s daily water supply by around 100 million gallons,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It may be noted that under normal conditions, the city receives approximately 650 MGD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The KWSC spokesperson warned that the temporary reduction could affect several areas, including North Nazimabad, Federal B.
