{"id":128241,"date":"2026-06-25T18:00:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T13:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=128241"},"modified":"2026-06-25T18:00:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T13:00:32","slug":"ihc-to-hear-imrans-190m-case-appeal-on-june-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/128241\/","title":{"rendered":"IHC to hear Imran\u2019s \u00a3190m case appeal on June 29"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD(National Times)-  The Isla\u00admabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled a hearing for June 29 on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1922818\">appeals<\/a>\u00a0filed by PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi challenging their convictions in the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2008846\">\u00a0\u00a3190 million case.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muham\u00admad Sarf\u00adaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will hear the appeals, according to the cause list issued by the registrar\u2019s office. The appeals challenge the trial court verdict concerning the settlement of the UK\u2019s NCA funds and the transfer of land for the Al-Qadir Trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imran and spouse have also filed contempt of court petitions regarding an alleged delay in complying with court directions to submit signed powers of attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defence previously informed the court that pro\u00ad\u00adcedural hurdles and dif\u00ad\u00adficulties meeting the accused at Adiala jail prevented them from obtaining the documents within the court-mandated seven days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, in a fresh re\u00ad\u00ads\u00adponse submitted to the IHC, the Adiala jail sup\u00ader\u00ad\u00adintendent claimed the defence misled the court. He said the powers of attorney were prepared and signed on June 16, and that def\u00ade\u00adnce counsel Barrister Salman Safdar was informed thro\u00adugh a text message the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A screenshot of the message was attached to the court filing. The response said the lawyers deliberately did not obtain the documents before a June 18 hearing. This surprised the court, as Safdar had sought multiple adjournments, maintaining he was unable to meet his clients to complete the formalities.
