{"id":128049,"date":"2026-06-22T10:09:31","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T05:09:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=128049"},"modified":"2026-06-22T10:09:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T05:09:32","slug":"normal-speed-limits-reinstated-on-motorways-highways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/128049\/","title":{"rendered":"Normal speed limits reinstated on motorways, highways"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD(National Times)- The government on Sunday withdrew its decision to temporarily reduce speed limits on motorways and national highways, restoring the previously prescribed limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The speed limit for cars and light transport vehicles (LTVs) on motorways has been restored to 120km per hour, while the speed limit for public service vehicles (PSVs) and heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) has also been reinstated to 110 km per hour, according to the National Highways and Motorway Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, the previously prescribed speed limits for cars, LTVs, PSVs, and HTVs on national highways have also been restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Road users have been advised to strictly observe the prescribed speed limits, follow traffic laws, and ensure safe driving practices at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The speed limits on motorways and national highways had earlier been reduced \u201cin order to promote austerity measures and fuel conservation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development had come as the government announced a series of austerity measures to conserve fuel in view of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2005553\">global fuel crisis&nbsp;<\/a>triggered by the US-Israel war on Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The step \u201cwas taken in line with the instructions of the prime minister to ensure the efficient use of energy and encourage fuel conservation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the austerity measures, the government had also announced several fuel-saving initiatives, including a 50 per cent reduction in fuel allowances for official vehicles.
