It is a covert organisation which avoids the detection and prosecution of those using violence to destroy property and cause injury.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2008071\/uk-court-upholds-britains-ban-on-palestine-action-group#co-founder-says-she-will-challenge-ruling\"><\/a>Co-founder says she will challenge ruling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ammori said she would seek to challenge Monday\u2019s ruling at the UK Supreme Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will fight this all the way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will not stop fighting to overturn one of the most extreme attacks on free speech and the right to protest in modern British history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UK interior minister Shabana Mahmood said the decision did not affect lawful protest in support of the Palestinian cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a difference between supporting Palestine and supporting a proscribed terrorist group,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police officers detained some of the demonstrators opposing the government\u2019s decision to ban Palestine Action during a protest outside the court on Monday.Protesters hold placards as they sit by a banner reading \u2018I oppose genocide\u2019, outside the Royal Courts Of Justice in central London on June 15, 2026, as the High Court rules on a legal standoff between the government and activist group Palestine Action. \u2014AFP<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2008071\/uk-court-upholds-britains-ban-on-palestine-action-group#group-banned-after-damaging-two-military-planes\"><\/a>Group banned after damaging two military planes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Palestine Action was proscribed last July, having often targeted Israel-linked defence companies or other firms with links to them in Britain with \u201cdirect action\u201d, often blocking entrances, or spraying red paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carr said its main target was Elbit but included any other company which allowed the Israeli firm to conduct business in the UK with the intent of closing down its operations by intimidation and not persuasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group was banned shortly after a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1921919\">June break-in<\/a>&nbsp;at the Royal Air Force\u2019s Brize Norton base, in which activists damaged two military planes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That placed the group on a par with Islamic State or Al-Qaeda, making membership a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 2,700 people have since been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1991169\">arrested<\/a>&nbsp;for holding signs in support of Palestine Action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ruling comes after&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1997933\">four people were jailed<\/a>&nbsp;for criminal damage relating to a 2024 raid on an Elbit factory in southern England.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the defendants was also found guilty of hitting a police officer with a sledgehammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As they were being sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, police arrested more than 100 people outside for showing support for Palestine Action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Web desk(National Times)- The British government\u2019s decision to ban the pro-Palestinian campaign group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation is lawful because of its support for violence, London\u2019s Court of Appeal ruled on Monday.
