{"id":126533,"date":"2026-05-25T20:47:56","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T15:47:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=126533"},"modified":"2026-05-25T20:47:58","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T15:47:58","slug":"prince-aga-khan-assures-kp-cm-sohail-afridi-of-investment-in-the-province","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/126533\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Aga Khan assures KP CM Sohail Afridi of investment in the province"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Web desk(National Times)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday met visiting Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V at the Lower Chitral Airport, where the latter assured him of investment in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prince Rahim&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2001810\">arrived<\/a>&nbsp;in Pakistan on Wednesday for a week-long visit \u2014 his first to the country since being&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1889957\"><u>named&nbsp;<\/u><\/a>the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to reporters during a visit to Chitral, CM Afridi said he had made the visit to welcome Prince Rahim on his arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDuring the meeting with Prince Rahim Aga Khan, discussions were held on the province\u2019s potential as well as the government\u2019s initiatives and goals,\u201d the chief minister said, while lauding the services of the Aga Khan Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2018We also discussed the establishment of an Aga Khan University and hospital in Peshawar,\u201d CM Afridi added. \u201cPrince Rahim Aga Khan assured investment in the province.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Lower Chitral Airport, the chief minister was received by local leaders and government officials. He added that he would attend a reception ceremony held in honour of Prince Rahim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ismaili spiritual leader&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2002417\">reached<\/a>&nbsp;Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday, where he urged followers to strengthen unity, pursue education and remain steadfast in faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing a large gathering of community members in the Passu area of Hunza on Friday, Prince Rahim emphasised the importance of harmony within families and society, stating that strong and united families form the foundation of a prosperous and happy community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen families and communities remain united, they become stronger and happier \u2014 and the Imam will also be happy,\u201d he told the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon his arrival at Nur Khan Air Base on Wednesday, Prince Rahim was received by President Asif Ali Zardari. He was presented with a guard of honour at Aiwan-i-Sadr, where he stood alongside the president as the national anthem was played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reaffirmed the Aga Khan Development Network\u2019s (AKDN) commitment to supporting humanitarian and development efforts in Pakistan during a meeting with the president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A banquet was also held in the Aga Khan\u2019s honour, attended by high-level officials including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Web desk(National Times)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Monday met visiting Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V at the Lower Chitral Airport, where the latter assured him of investment in the province.
