ISLAMABAD(National Times)- A ban on Indian civilian and military aircraft using Pakistani airspace has been extended for another month, until June 24, according to a Notice to Airmen (Notam) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous extension was set to expire<\/u><\/a> on May 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ban extension took effect on May 19 at 10:40am and the restriction was extended until 4:59am on June 24, according to the Notam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPakistan airspace not available for Indian registered aircraft and aircraft operated\/owned or leased by Indian airlines\/operators, including military flights,\u201d the Notam, available with Dawn<\/em>, read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan\u2019s airspace is divided into two flight information regions (FIRs) \u2014 Karachi and Lahore, according to a Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) document<\/u><\/a> from 2022. The Notam applies to both the Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR) FIRs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India and Pakistan closed their airspaces<\/u><\/a> to each other\u2019s airlines since late April 2025, when tensions between them escalated<\/u><\/a> in the wake of a deadly attack<\/u><\/a> in Indian-occupied Kashmir\u2019s Pahalgam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 24, Pakistan\u2019s top brass had announced a series of measures<\/u><\/a>, including the closure of its airspace to all India-owned or Indian-operated airlines with immediate effect, as it retaliated against New Delhi\u2019s slew of aggressive measures<\/u><\/a> against the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Delhi, without evidence, had alleged that Islamabad backed the attack; however, Pakistan had strongly denied<\/u><\/a> any involvement and offered a neutral probe<\/u><\/a>. The nuclear powers had the fiercest air battle in May, in which Pakistan said it downed seven Indian fighter jets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
