{"id":126067,"date":"2026-05-17T10:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T05:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=126067"},"modified":"2026-05-17T10:58:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T05:58:16","slug":"aurangzeb-calls-panda-bond-issuance-transformational-step","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/126067\/","title":{"rendered":"Aurangzeb calls Panda Bond issuance transformational step"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ISLAMABAD(National Times)-  Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday said Pakistan\u2019s inaugural Panda Bond\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2000249\">issuance<\/a>\u00a0marked a \u201ctransformational step\u201d in the country\u2019s financial landscape and opens a new chapter in Pakistan-China economic cooperation by giving Pakistan access to the world\u2019s second-largest and second-deepest capital market for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with&nbsp;<em>China Global Television Network<\/em>&nbsp;following the official Panda Bond issuance ceremony in Beijing, Mr Aurangzeb said the successful issuance reflected the growing confidence of Chinese institutions and global investors in Pakistan\u2019s macroeconomic stability, reform agenda and economic direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNearly one-quarter of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China is already being settled in RMB and Chinese Yuan (CNY),\u201d he said, highlighting increasing financial integration and expanding economic partnership between the two countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discussing broader Pak\u00adist\u00adan-China economic coo\u00adp\u00aderation, Mr Aurangzeb said the first phase of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1939636\">China-Pakistan Economic Corridor<\/a>&nbsp;under the Belt and Road Initiative had largely focused on infrastructure development, while the second phase was increasingly centred on business-to-business collaboration, industrial cooperation and monetisation of infrastructure assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe strategic priorities of Pakistan and China remain closely aligned in promoting connectivity, tra\u00adde, investment, and sustainable economic gro\u00adwth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Aurangzeb also said Pakistan had successfully managed the \u201cfirst-order implications\u201d of the prevailing regional conflict, including procurement and logistics challenges, while maintaining macroeconomic stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKey economic indicators continue moving in the right direction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to structural reforms, fiscal discipline and investment-friendly policies aimed at promoting long-term and inclusive economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOngoing reforms in taxation, energy, state-owned enterprises, and digital governance are strengthening investor confidence and improving Pakistan\u2019s economic outlook,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday said Pakistan\u2019s inaugural Panda Bond\u00a0issuance\u00a0marked a \u201ctransformational step\u201d in the country\u2019s financial landscape and opens a new chapter in Pakistan-China economic cooperation by giving Pakistan access to the world\u2019s second-largest and second-deepest capital market for the first time.
