ISLAMABAD(National Times)- In a televised message marking\u00a0Marka-i-Haq<\/em>, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday warned that Pakistan\u2019s reaction to any miscalculation in the future would be \u201cmore intense and decisive\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year\u2019s military conflict with India, starting from the April 22 Pahalgam attack<\/u><\/a> to the end of Pakistan\u2019s Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, with a ceasefire<\/u><\/a> ending a military escalation between the two countries on May 10, has been called \u201cMarka-i-Haq<\/u><\/em><\/a>\u201d<\/em> (Battle of Truth) by the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his message, Asif said Marka-i-Haq<\/em> was not just a \u201cmemorable episode for Pakistan, but a line that we have drawn forever\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone on the other side of this line should understand that Pakistan exercised tolerance and restraint during the 2025 episode, he said, warning that in case of an \u201cincorrect assessment or miscalculation\u201d in the future, the response would be \u201cmore intense and decisive\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Pakistan did not want any fighting in 2025, and it desired the same today. \u201cBut there should not be any doubt; Pakistan does not only respond, but it also determines the correct course of consequences. Any adventurism against us will not remain limited [to the other side\u2019s action]; we will decide its course, its beginning and its end,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Marka-i-Haq<\/em> had \u201cforever buried the impression\u201d that Pakistan could be pressurised or isolated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday, our ability to respond in the air, land and water is effective and fast beyond anyone\u2019s imagination,\u201d the defence minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further stressed that India must realise that there was no space for \u201cdramatics, false flag operations and miscalculations\u201d. The defence minister warned that repeating \u201ccliched actions\u201d would entail paying a price much higher than before. \u201cIt will be equivalent to committing suicide,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asif said that Pakistan\u2019s \u201ceverlasting national unity\u201d had provided it strength. \u201cPakistan\u2019s nation, armed forces and the state are moving in a unified direction, and this strength of ours has tipped the balance [in our favour],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Pakistan\u2019s armed forces met the demands of modern times and were fully prepared to effectively deal with any possible conflict in the future. \u201cWhatever you may plan or whatever your designs may be, we are far ahead of what you think. The entire nation is standing with us like bunyanum marsoos<\/em> (a solid fortified wall),\u201d the defence minister said, seemingly addressing India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asif said Pakistan always wanted peace, but \u201cwe don\u2019t want peace devoid of dignity, security and respect for sovereignty. That\u2019s not peace but surrender, and it is completely unacceptable to us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the confidence and determination he saw in the country\u2019s youth during Marka-i-Haq<\/em> inspired him. \u201cThe young generation in Pakistan has an understanding of what happened during Marka-i-Haq<\/em> \u2026 Today\u2019s generation is different, it is aware and united and has an emotional connection with Pakistan. And it is this sentiment that is the biggest strength for Pakistan\u2019s bright future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asif concluded his message, again seemingly addressing India, saying: \u201cWe know who we are, what we can do and where we stand today. If someone is living in the past, relying on old assumptions, my sincere advice is to align your thinking with modern demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe message is clear: don\u2019t let your internal politics and hatred come out. And if this happens, be ready for the response, which will not be in your control and will not remain limited.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
