{"id":125137,"date":"2026-05-01T09:47:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:47:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=125137"},"modified":"2026-05-01T09:47:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T04:47:19","slug":"amazon-says-damaged-uae-cloud-region-recovery-to-take-several-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/125137\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon says damaged UAE cloud region recovery to take several months"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Web Desk(National Times)- Amazon said on Thursday that restoring cloud computing operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which were damaged in the conflict in the Middle East, is expected to take several months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon\u2019s data centres in the region were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1977381\">hit<\/a>&nbsp;by Iranian retaliatory drone strikes in early March, amid the conflict, disrupting cloud services and making a recovery \u201cprolonged\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked if the latest update was related to a new incident, an Amazon spokesperson said that the latest update dated April 30 related to the previous operational issues in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world\u2019s largest cloud computing provider, serving a global client base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its key customers include companies such as Netflix, BMW and Pfizer, as well as major financial institutions, media groups and public sector organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also the company\u2019s main driver of profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AWS recommended customers migrate all accessible resources to other regions and restore inaccessible resources from remote backups as soon as possible, according to the status update posted to its website on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AWS status page showed that 37 services in the UAE have been listed as disrupted as of the week of April 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several of these services have been disrupted since early March, according to the status page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm said that the damage suffered to its operations in the UAE has led to a suspension of billing operations in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, Amazon\u2019s cloud region in Bahrain had been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1984827\">\u201cdisrupted\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;due to drone activity in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Web Desk(National Times)- Amazon said on Thursday that restoring cloud computing operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which were damaged in the conflict in the Middle East, is expected to take several months.
