Web Desk(National Times)- The Foreign Office (FO) said on Saturday that Pakistan had successfully launched an indigenous electro-optical satellite from China\u2019s Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre, terming it a \u201csignificant milestone\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has successfully launched its indigenous electro-optical satellite (EO-3) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre, marking another significant milestone in the nation\u2019s space capabilities,\u201d it said in a statement<\/a> posted on the social media platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeyond its core imaging mission, EO-3 carries advanced experimental payloads aimed at validating next-generation space technologies. These include a multi-geometry imaging module for enhanced imaging accuracy, an advanced energy storage system, and an onboard AI-powered data processing unit to enable real-time analysis and intelligent decision support,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that the addition of EO-3 to Pakistan\u2019s Earth Observation satellite fleet \u201csignificantly enhances national capabilities in remote sensing\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe integrated system will improve data continuity, imaging reliability, and analytical precision, supporting applications across Pakistan\u2019s socio-economic sectors,\u201d the FO said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military\u2019s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, said <\/a>the satellite would provide imaging data to \u201crevolutionise urban planning, disaster management, food security and environment protection\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Asif Ali Zardari, in a statement, termed the launch a \u201chistoric milestone\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted that it was a \u201cclear manifestation of Pakistan\u2019s self-reliance, scientific expertise and growing capability in space technology\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president praised the professional expertise of Suparco\u2019s scientists and engineers, saying their efforts were adapting Pakistan to modern requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Zardari also hailed China\u2019s \u201cconsistent and trustworthy cooperation\u201d in the space sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the FO statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Suparco\u2019s scientists and engineers on the achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe reaffirmed the government\u2019s strong commitment to advancing Pakistan\u2019s space programme and expressed appreciation for China\u2019s continued cooperation in this domain,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also extended his commendation, praising Suparco\u2019s technical excellence and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe described the successful launch as a reflection of Pakistan\u2019s growing scientific capability and reiterated the government\u2019s resolve to further strengthen the country\u2019s presence in the space sector,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the nation on the successful launch of the satellite and appreciated the scientists and engineers involved in the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He termed the launch a \u201cbig achievement\u201d for the country, saying that the Pak-China friendship was also \u201ctouching new heights in space\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The interior minister said that the satellite would assist in multiple fields and would also boost earth observation capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China\u2019s Xinhua News<\/em> said that the satellite was lifted off at 8:15 pm (Beijing time) by a Long March-6 carrier rocket and \u201csuccessfully entered its planned orbit\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first indigenous Electro-Optical (EO-1) satellite <\/u><\/a>was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northern China in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in February, Pakistan had also successfully launched<\/a> its second indigenous Earth Observation Satellite, EO-2, from China\u2019s Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
