ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday said that even a year on, India has failed to provide evidence for its allegations against Pakistan over the Pahalgam attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The April 22, 2025 attack<\/u><\/a> in Pahalgam saw 26 people<\/u><\/a>, mostly tourists, killed in what is being described as the deadliest armed attack in the disputed Himalayan region since the year 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo this day, India has not presented any solid evidence or proof regarding the Pahalgam incident, nor has it offered satisfactory explanations,\u201d Tarar said in a televised statement<\/a> issued on the incident\u2019s anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He recalled India\u2019s refusal to accept Pakistan\u2019s offer for a neutral and transparent investigation into the Pahalgam attack, adding that it \u201craises serious questions and suggests that the incident may have been a false flag operation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe false flag operation in Pahalgam reflects a mindset that is hollow \u2014 driven by false pride, arrogance and greed,\u201d he contended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet me make it very clear that this was the last false flag operation that India carried out in Pahalgam [\u2026] It will not dare to carry out such false flag operation again,\u201d Tarar asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stating that the entire matter was \u201chandled through empty slogans and in a very crude manner\u201d, Tarar said Pakistan had been itself a victim of terrorism and had expressed \u201cfull sympathy\u201d with the civilians affected in the Pahalgam attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister questioned how the first information report (FIR) of the case was registered within \u201c10 minutes of the incident\u201d and noted that think tanks had raised questions about there being \u201cno proper security\u201d at the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFurthermore, without evidence, without investigation and without proper inquiry, the blame was immediately placed on Pakistan<\/a>,\u201d he said, adding that \u201cbaseless and fabricated propaganda\u201d becomes very difficult to sell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo this day, the world continues to ask questions and India has no answers to give,\u201d the information minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIndia\u2019s issue is that it presents its internal matters as external ones and its external matters as internal. A clear example of this is terrorism,\u201d Tarar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He added, \u201cTerrorism is India\u2019s internal issue, yet it portrays it as an external problem. Similarly, the Kashmir issue is an international issue but India presents it as an internal one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister slammed the \u201cugly face\u201d of Indian media<\/a> for spreading what he described as propaganda. He asserted that India\u2019s institutions have been \u201cpoliticised\u201d and suppress minorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tarar highlighted that India had been found involved in transnational terrorism, including the killings of Sikh leaders abroad. \u201cSo terrorism is part of India\u2019s state policy and they continue to follow it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister reiterated Islamabad\u2019s allegations against New Delhi of its involvement in terrorism on Pakistani soil, adding that the country had evidence for it that is periodically shared with the international community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn many terrorist incidents, India\u2019s involvement appears here and there, but we are strongly countering them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister went on to assert, \u201cIndia should remember that any misadventure of any kind will be met with a firm, decisive and swift response.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He reiterated the government\u2019s resolve to \u201ctake every possible step for the defence of the country\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He contended that due to its policies, India was \u201cfacing global isolation\u201d, while Pakistan was moving forward on its mission of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just two days after the Pahalgam attack, India took a series of aggressive measures against Pakistan, including unilaterally suspending<\/u><\/a> the critical Indus Waters Treaty<\/u><\/a> (IWT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pakistan retaliated<\/u><\/a> by suspending all kinds of trade, closing its airspace for Indian flights and shutting down the Wagah border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Subsequently, New Delhi launched deadly overnight air strikes<\/u><\/a> on Pakistan on May 6 over allegations about the Pahalgam attack<\/u><\/a>, which Islamabad denied<\/u><\/a>.
