{"id":124560,"date":"2026-04-22T10:46:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=124560"},"modified":"2026-04-22T10:46:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:46:22","slug":"disease-prevention-programme-gets-cm-maryams-nod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/124560\/","title":{"rendered":"Disease prevention programme gets CM Maryam\u2019s nod"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LAHORE(National Times)-  Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has granted approval to the launch of the \u201cDisease Prevention Programme,\u201d aimed at curbing the spread of major diseases across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme will focus on prevention of diabetes, tuberculosis (TB), HIV\/AIDS and hepatitis, while a province-wide public awareness campaign will also be launched to educate citizens about these life-threatening illnesses, says a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the chief minister here on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was informed that the campaign would raise public awareness regarding prevention and treatment of deadly diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to take necessary measures to control such illnesses and ensure implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public hospitals, particularly to prevent epidemics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also instructed the Punjab Healthcare Commission to monitor the implementation of health SOPs in private hospitals and clinics, and ordered strict legal action against quacks across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chief minister emphasised that creating public awareness about prevention of fatal and infectious diseases is essential.
